Chris Allton, a 32-year-old businessman from London, has always been fascinated by the Middle Ages and the ideals of chivalry. In 2019, he decided to take his passion to the next level and enroll in Knight School II, a rigorous 10-month program that trains ordinary people to become knights.
Over the course of the program, Chris underwent a transformative journey, both physically and mentally. He learned the art of swordsmanship, archery, horsemanship, and the principles of medieval combat. He also studied the history of knighthood, the code of chivalry, and the role of knights in society.
Training
The training at Knight School II was intense and demanding. Chris spent hours each day practicing swordplay, archery, and horsemanship. He also had to learn how to fight in full armor, which was surprisingly difficult.
"It's one thing to swing a sword around in your backyard," Chris said. "But it's a whole different ballgame when you're wearing 70 pounds of armor and trying to hit a moving target."
In addition to the physical training, Chris also had to learn the principles of medieval combat. He studied the different types of weapons and armor, and he learned how to fight in both mounted and unmounted combat.
"I've always been interested in history," Chris said. "But learning about medieval combat was a whole new level of excitement. It's fascinating to think about how these knights fought and how they lived their lives."
Knighthood
After months of training, Chris was ready to be knighted. The ceremony took place at a medieval castle in Scotland, and it was presided over by a group of real knights.
Chris knelt before the knights and swore an oath of chivalry. He promised to be brave, loyal, and just. He also promised to defend the weak and to fight for what is right.
After taking the oath, Chris was dubbed a knight. He was given a sword, a shield, and a suit of armor. He was also granted the title of "Sir Chris Allton."
"It was an amazing feeling," Chris said. "I felt like I had finally achieved something that I had always dreamed of. It was a moment that I will never forget."
Life After Knighthood
Since becoming a knight, Chris has continued to pursue his passion for medieval history and combat. He has competed in jousting tournaments, given lectures on knighthood, and even started his own medieval combat group.
Chris is also a role model for others who are interested in pursuing their dreams. He shows that with hard work and dedication, anything is possible.
"I've learned that anything is possible if you set your mind to it," Chris said. "I never thought I would be able to become a knight, but I did it. And if I can do it, anyone can."
Chris Allton's journey to knighthood is an inspiring story of courage, determination, and adventure. He shows that with hard work and dedication, anything is possible. And he reminds us that the ideals of chivalry are still relevant today.
