Loved Girl is a novel depicting the tragic love story of Walter Trobisch and Gudrun Ensslin, two German revolutionaries who were members of the Red Army Faction. The novel follows the couple as they fall in love, get married, and become involved in the violent political struggle of the 1960s and 1970s.

Walter Trobisch was born in 1943 in Stuttgart, Germany. He was the son of a Protestant minister and a social worker. Gudrun Ensslin was born in 1940 in Mannheim, Germany. She was the daughter of an engineer and a teacher. Both Trobisch and Ensslin were raised in devout Christian families.

The two met in 1967 while they were both students at the University of Berlin. They quickly fell in love and married in 1968. The couple soon became involved in the student protests that were sweeping Germany at the time. They were both arrested and imprisoned for their involvement in the protests.

After their release from prison, Trobisch and Ensslin joined the Red Army Faction, a militant communist group. The Red Army Faction was responsible for a number of bombings and assassinations in Germany. Trobisch and Ensslin were both arrested for their involvement in the group and were sentenced to life in prison.

Trobisch and Ensslin spent the rest of their lives in prison. They were both found dead in their cells in 1977. The circumstances surrounding their deaths are still a mystery.

Loved Girl is a powerful and moving story about love, loss, and the human cost of political extremism. The novel is a reminder of the dangers of violence and the importance of peaceful protest.

Historical Context

The 1960s and 1970s were a time of great political unrest in Germany. The country was still reeling from the effects of World War II and the division of the country into East and West Germany. The student protests of the 1960s were a reaction to the conservative government of the time and the perceived lack of opportunities for young people.

The Red Army Faction was formed in 1970 by a group of former student activists. The group was responsible for a number of bombings and assassinations in Germany. The Red Army Faction was eventually defeated by the German government, but its legacy still haunts the country today.
